In Waiting

To say that I'm an impatient person would be the understatement of the century. When I get an idea in my head, I want to get moving immediately. (Ain't nobody got time to sit around)

So, as I feel a little antsy in this waiting period that God has me in, I can't help but hear my mother singing (the ever annoying) "Be patient" song.

Be patient, be patient.
Don't be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient, you'll only start to worry.
Be patient, be patient.
For God is patient too.
Remember all the times, when others wait for you.

Sure, sure easy. (Said no one ever) HOW CAN I BE PATIENT!?! I have nearly $10,000 to raise in start up costs for renting and furnishing a home, for going to language school, to ship down necessities, to apply for residencies, and to get my future husband and myself to our new home in Honduras.

Additionally, I need to secure a monthly sponsorship of $1,200 a month ... to you know, keep us down there. (real talk: just looking at those two numbers makes me queasy and a whole other sort of emotions that I can't describe *** insert panic attack here).

And if I wasn't already pulling my hair out. To top it all off, I am planning a wedding. If God isn't just the best comedian out there, I really don't know who is.

BUT .. the song (you know the one, the song of satan ) it's on a loop in my head.

When you get impatient, you'll only start to worry.
Be patient, be patient.
For God is patient too.

God IS patient. And I should not waist my time worrying. I need to use this period of waiting and look for the lessons that God is trying to teach me.

Breath in and breath out. WhooooSaaaaaah

As I breathed in and out, (So many times that I almost fainted) I decided to watch an online sermon. We all know how the next part goes, right? It was like the pastor was speaking directly to me. The kind of sermon where the words seem to touch your very soul.

The pastor's soul touching words of wisdom:

Alignment comes before assignment. Jesus waited 30 years for a 3 year assignment. There is power in the preparation. Grow in courage, walk in wisdom, and remember that God is waiting with you.
Furthermore, use this time to develop your gifts and use the battles to grow, remembering that he has placed you in this season for a reason. Walk faithfully with Him, grow in character and in courage. God's doing something all of the time. Don't let this waiting time be a waisted time, look for the lessons (2017, Healing Place Church).

Could the lesson be patience? could be, could be.

Or maybe this year is for me to build upon my skill set and knowledge, so that when I return to Honduras I will be better equipped to help Legacy of Hope, furthering their ministry and His glory.

So here's to learning patience, accepting his faithfulness, growing in courage, and developing my gifts.

Tough love, so THAT happened.
